Vilija Joyce, MS, is an Associate Director and Research Associate at the VA Health Economics Resource Center. She provides leadership, heads process improvement efforts, and builds partnerships to facilitate the research goals of the Center. As a Research Associate, Vilija’s work has focused on assessing outcomes as well as the costs of care for pregnant Veterans, as well as for Veterans with opioid use disorder, HIV, and hepatitis C. Vilija is also involved with integrating new NLP concepts for use in dashboards, including the Syringe Services Program (SSP) dashboard, which combines structured data with information extracted from patient notes using NLP, to support evidence-based harm reduction within VHA. Vilija received her MS in Health Services Research from Stanford University and BA in International Area Economics from University of California, Los Angeles.
